ELIZA WOITINNEK is from Buffalo Grove, Illinois and trained at The Academy of Dance Arts in Downers Grove, under the artistic direction of Sherry Moray and Ricky Ruiz. She graduated cum laude from Butler University, where she received a B.S. in Dance and Arts Administration. Currently, she is dancing as an apprentice with Visceral Dance Chicago.
Eliza has performed in several full-length ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Giselle, and has created soloist and principal roles in contemporary works for Butler’s Midwinter Dance Festival. She performed in David Ingram’s “KAPNOS,” commissioned for Indiana’s Governor’s Arts Awards Ceremony, and took part in creating and performing in Streamlines, a project funded by a national grant to raise awareness of the conservation of Indianapolis waterways.
Eliza holds a strong interest in choreography. Two of her works premiered in Warsaw, Poland in a central European tour that visited the national conservatories of Prague, Krakow, Bratislava and Poznan. For her senior honors thesis, she explored the relationship between dance and film by choreographing and directing a 12-minute dancefilm that was presented at the 2017 Undergraduate Research Conference.
